Today I show you my culinary creation for this Halloween: ghost shaped cookies. I was very excited to make them so I can to take them to my mom’s house to surprise her. The recipe is super easy and similar to many others out there in the internet, but this is the one from the website Huevos Fritos which I think is the simplest.
– 300 grams of butter
– 200 grams of sugar
– 2 eggs
– 500 grams of flour (ideally for baking)
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
The first thing to do is to soften the butter a little at microwave and when it’s a little liquid add sugar while beating. Then add the eggs and vanilla and continue stirring. Then add the flour gradually until you have added half. Now we must begin to knead with the hands (I got really dirty) adding more flour until the dough pulls away easily from your hands. Once you have the dough ready, let it in the fridge covered with plastic wrap for at least one hour.
Once the dough have rested enough you have to flatten it with a roll until it is about an inch thick. After that just cut out the cookies in the desired shape and place on a baking tray (we will have previously preheated the oven to 180 degrees). Bake for 15 minutes or until they get a little golden.
When they are done, decorate the halloween cookies as you want. I’ve decorated mine with vanilla icing and little balls that I bought at Lidl. I guess it’s better to make the icing yourself but as I am new at this and I didn’t have much time I preferred to buy it.
