This week I’ve been making a pocket organizer that I needed to hang on the bathroom door, but it can be used for other things. You can make as many pockets as you need. I explain step by step how I did it.
First I cut a piece of fabric of 100 centimeters x 40 centimeters for the base of the organizer, several pieces of 20 centimeters x 18 centimeters for small pockets, a piece of 35 centimeters x 22 centimeters to make a large pocket and two strips of 50 centimeter x 15 centimeter for something else that I will explain later.
As I bought the fabric at Ikea opportunities it was already sewn in some parts, so I used a hem that was already done to insert a rod in order to give consistency to the organizer.
Once I had all the pieces of fabric cut, I ironed them and made some creases where I was going to sew.
Then I started to sew pockets as follows:
1. First sew a hem at the top.
2. Then sew the sides of the pocket to the base leaving some slack.
3. Finally sew the hem at the bottom to unite to the base.
The two strips of fabric that I cut of 50 centimeters x 15 centimeters were sewn to the base joining the ends, leaving a hole to store rolls of toilet paper (although they can be used to store other things).
Finally I sewed the ends of a thick rope to the base to hang the organizer. And this is the result, what do you think?
